2 landmark experiments have given a first glimpse of how lifespans could be lengthened with an anti-ageing drug.
Its about lengthening the lifespans of people - making them biologically younger, thereby boosting their resilience to diseases like cancer. Researchers injected mice with a virus which carried additional pieces of genetic code and helped them to live longer.
One group at a biotech used gene therapy to deliver some of the so-called Yamanaka factors into old mice, and modestly extended their life span. And a separate team followed a similar strategy to reverse aging-like changes in genetically engineered mice.
