The pump, which can provide water temperatures of 60-80 degrees Celsius, does not necessitate additional home insulation or changes to the heating system, unlike conventional air heat pumps. Its inbuilt buffer operates as a heat battery, supplying heat to radiators and generating hot tap water. With potential applicability in UK suburban and rural areas, this breakthrough could significantly aid in decarbonising homes traditionally reliant on gas boilers.
