Startup 44.01 from Oman has a goal of capturing and mineralising 1 billion tonnes of CO2 by 2040

44.01 is a recent winner of earthshotprize. Their technology works by capturing carbon dioxide from the air, then mineralising it into peridotite rock, a low-cost and safe alternative for storing carbon.

The company has conducted 2 successful pilots and by end of 2022 will have injected their first ton of captured CO2 with planes to begin injecting CO2 at a commercial scale by Q2 2023.
